Join us for a day of classes celebrating the Byzantine Empire’s history, influence, arts, and culture. Classes begin 10am; topics will include an overview of Byzantine history, the influence of the desert fathers, Eastern Christian churches in the Islamic states, pottery, garb, music, mosaics, pysanki (Ukrainian Easter eggs), pigments and gesso for painting, and an address by Father Terence Farmer on icon symbolism and use including a tour of the church’s icons.
